Nemov and Gallyamova are the first winners at the Ice Climbing World Cup in Corvara

Bolzano/Corvara, 26 January 2018 – The Ice Climbing World Cup in Corvara began on Friday with the Lead qualifications. In the afternoon, the Speed climbing competitions took place by floodlight. Winners Anton Nemov and Nadezda Gallyamova are once again from Russia.

Among the men, Anton Nemov won the Speed climbing. He conquered the 15 metre high ice wall two times with a strong time of 19,53 seconds. His team mate Ivan Spitsyn relegated to second place. The third competitor to win a place on the podium is Vladimir Kartashev (Russia). For South Tyroleans Christof Pfitscher and Hubert Brunner the competition ended with the qualification round.

The women’s competition was also won by a Russian, Nadezda Gallyamova. The athlete from Eastern Europe reached the finish in 28,94 seconds. Ekaterina Feoktistova finished in second place, Ekaterina Koshcheeva achieved third place.

Lead finals on Saturday

The Ice Climbing World Cup will continue on Saturday with the Lead category. The women’s semi-finals start at 10:00 am, the men’s at 1:00 pm. The exciting finals will take place from 6:00 pm. The great After-World-Cup party starts at 8:00 pm in the heated marquee, supported by the band “Männer der Berge”.

All competitions are streamed live online, free of charge. The live stream can also be accessed on the website www.eisklettern.it. Streaming includes the Speed competitions on Friday (from the semi-finals from 4:30 pm) and the Lead competitions on Saturday (also from the semi-finals from 10:00 am).
