In february 2014 the winter of the century cancelled the Organisation Committee’s best laid plans. Although everything was prepared for the international ice climbing festival, massive snowfalls in the days prior to the event meant that Rabenstein was cut off from the rest of the world. The second edition of the World Cup had to be cancelled because of a serious risk of avalanches and the corresponding risk to athletes, their attendants, officials and spectators.
