The Ice Tower Eisturm Rabenstein opens this Friday

Corvara, 19 December 2018 – If that isn’t an early Christmas gift to all ice climbers: This season the ice tower Eisturm Rabenstein opens five days earlier than usual. From Friday, 21 December, one of the largest artificial ice climbing structures in the world is open to the public. Until the New Year there are also several special opening hours at the ice tower in Val Passiria.

The recent cold temperatures and the sacrificial commitment of the Eisturm Rabenstein team make it possible: The ice on the ice climbing facility is already in such perfect conditions that Reinhard Graf and his team have decided to open the structure in snowy Val Passiria as early as this week. “Our season is very short as it is, and it makes no sense to wait until 26 December. The ice tower therefore remains open from Friday, 21 December to Sunday, 23 December. On Friday from 7:00 to 10:30 pm and at the weekend from 1:30 to 7:00 pm. We are looking forward to seeing as many climbers as possible”, Reinhard Graf said.

After the Christmas celebrations, there will still be special opening hours for ice climbers. On 25 December the ice tower is open from 7:00 pm to 10.30 pm, on 26 December from 1:30 pm to 7:00 pm, and from 27 to 30 December in the evenings from 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm.

Swiss National Team trains in Corvara

The international scene has already heard about the current good conditions at the ice tower. The Swiss national team will pitch up in Val Passiria from 26 to 28 December to train on the ice structure, also with a view to the World Cup that will take place from 1 to 3 February 2019 in Corvara. Two weeks before, on Sunday 20 January, the traditional Psairer Bauernmeisterschaft championships will take place.
